At age ten, she performed at the Country Tonite Theatre in Pigeon Forge, TN and won "Most Promising Female Artist of the Year" in the North American Country Music Association's International Vocal Competition. Most recently, she won Brooklyn's "Wildwood Recording Studio" weekly songwriting contest with her songs, "Cool, You're Happy" and "Wearing Pink". Her song “A Place on Earth” aired on WCLZ’s “Music from 207” in March 2025.
Katie was also featured on Scotland's "Buskers of Glasgow" Facebook page in 2021. Her song "Midnight Blue" aired on the BBC University of East Anglia radio station in 2018.
Collaborations
Katie has collaborated with internationally touring artist Eli Lev as well as Maine artists such as Jules Penham, Thomas Charles Clukey, Morgan the Fairy, and "Ukelele" Joe Sweeny. She has worked with Emmett Benezra, a Maine native and Berklee Graduate, to produce several singles and an album. She also records and produces her own music.
Personal Narrative
In school, Katie loved being in band. As a band kid, Katie felt free to be herself--creative, quirky, and (often intentionally) weird. In band, Katie learned that music has the power to bring people from all walks of life together. If two people didn't get along, they could always clap along together to the beat of their favorite song. If you were having a bad day or struggling to make friends, listening to a sad or angry song could make you feel better and remind you were not alone.
"Katie from Band" was born from these experiences. It is an homage to teenage awkwardness, the youthful joy of discovering music, and the awesome power music has to foster love, inspire hope, and change the world.
